How to Get a Smooth Blowout at Home with Brazilian Blowout Products
Share
A smooth, glossy blowout doesn't have to wait for your next salon visit. With the right products and a little technique, you can get a sleek finish at home, and if you've had a Brazilian Blowout smoothing treatment, the same routine helps you keep it looking fresh. Here is the step-by-step routine our stylists recommend using Brazilian Blowout's at-home products.
What you'll need
- Brazilian Blowout Anti-Frizz Shampoo
- Brazilian Blowout Anti-Frizz Conditioner
- Brazilian Blowout Ionic Bonding Spray or Frizz Shield
- Brazilian Blowout Daily Smoothing Serum
- Brazilian Blowout Brazilian Dry Oil (optional, for finishing)
- A blow dryer, a round or paddle brush and sectioning clips
How to get a smooth blowout at home: step by step
- Step 1: Shampoo. Massage Anti-Frizz Shampoo into wet hair and scalp to create a lather, then rinse thoroughly. Repeat if needed.
- Step 2: Condition. Apply Anti-Frizz Conditioner through the mid-lengths and ends, distribute evenly, leave on briefly, then rinse thoroughly.
- Step 3: Towel-dry gently. Squeeze out water with a towel instead of rubbing, which can rough up the cuticle and cause frizz.
- Step 4: Apply your smoothing spray. Shake Ionic Bonding Spray well and spray evenly through clean, damp hair, then comb through. If you're using Frizz Shield instead, section your hair and spray each section, including underneath, then comb through. Do not rinse.
- Step 5: Add serum to the lengths. Apply a small amount of Daily Smoothing Serum to the mid-lengths and ends and comb through. Use it sparingly if your hair is fine.
- Step 6: Section and blow-dry. Clip your hair into sections. Blow-dry one section at a time with a brush, holding the hair taut and pointing the airflow down the hair shaft until each section is completely dry.
- Step 7: Finish with shine. If you want extra shine or have flyaways, smooth a small amount of Brazilian Dry Oil over the mid-lengths and ends.
Tips from our stylists
- Dry hair completely. Any dampness left in the hair is what lets frizz creep back in on humid Long Island days.
- Keep using the system. Brazilian Blowout says the Ionic Bonding Spray, used at least once a week with the Anti-Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner, helps extend the life of its smoothing treatments.
- Less is more on fine hair. Start with a small amount of serum or oil and add only if you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Brazilian Blowout treatment to use these products?
No. Brazilian Blowout describes its Anti-Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner as made for anyone who wants long-lasting frizz control, with or without a smoothing treatment.
Should I use Ionic Bonding Spray or Frizz Shield?
Both go on clean, damp hair before blow-drying. Frizz Shield is a styler-meets-treatment that Brazilian Blowout says keeps hair smooth for up to 5 washes. Ionic Bonding Spray is a lightweight, residue-free spray to help seal the cuticle. Your stylist can help you choose.
Can I use the serum and the dry oil together?
Yes. Use the serum on damp hair before drying, and a small amount of dry oil afterward if you want more shine. Go lightly on fine hair.
