Split Ends: What Actually Helps (and What Doesn't)
Share
Split ends happen when the end of a hair strand frays apart. They are a normal part of hair life, but you can slow them down a lot.
The honest truth
Once an end has split, no product can permanently glue it back together. Only a trim removes it. What products can do is smooth the ends so they look and feel better and help stop new splits from traveling up the strand.
How to prevent split ends
- Trim regularly. Book a trim at Park Avenue Salon.
- Detangle gently. Start at the ends and work up, with a wide-tooth comb on wet hair.
- Protect from heat every time you use a hot tool.
- Use a repair line. Bond-building and repair treatments strengthen weak hair. Shop damaged hair products.
- Finish with a serum or oil to smooth the ends. Shop hair serums.
